Turkey warns Lebanon and Egypt on oil and gas deal

TURKEY YESTERDAY warned Lebanon and Egypt not to go ahead with deals on oil and gas exploration with Cyprus, claiming Ankara and the Turkish Cypriots had rights in the region.

A statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the Cyprus government had no right to sign international agreements and warned that the issue might negatively affect the resolution of the Cyprus issue.

BA tries to clear up confusion after strike called off

BRITISH AIRWAYS yesterday operated its full flying programme after a strike by cabin crew strike was called off at the last minute.

The two-day strike, officially announced last week, had been scheduled for yesterday and today.

British Airways in Cyprus said travellers had been informed that the strike was off by email, as well as press and trade announcements.

Men fined after Nicosia brawl

A NICOSIA COURT found two men guilty yesterday of creating a public disturbance, following a brawl in 2004.

Jordanian national Feres Alsadek Hamzeh and Palestinian national Jihad Abdoi Samer had been charged by State Prosecutor Margarita Avraamidou of brawling and causing public affray after they were arrested back in March 2004 in central Nicosia.
