CPC recalls dangerous products from market

THE COMMERCE Ministry’s Commission for the Protection of Competition and Consumers’ Protection (CPC) has announced the withdrawal of nine hazardous products from the market.
The Rapid Alert System for Non-food products (RAPEX) had been alerted about 17 products from various EU countries, and nine of these have been circulating the Cypriot market.

American dies in traffic accident

SPEED is believed to be the cause of death of an American man who was killed in a traffic accident in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Michael McKinney, 32, was flung out of the window of his rental car as it flipped over on Amathountas Avenue in the tourist area of Limassol.

The accident occurred at around 5.30am and no other vehicles were involved.

Fish thief escapes prison sentence

A PAPHOS man has been handed a suspended sentence after pleading to stealing 190 kilos of trout from a farm belonging to the fisheries department.

Ikhtiander Karatchauchev had pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy, illegal entry into another person’s property and theft.
