Man hurt in balcony fall A 23-year-old Pontian Greek from Paphos was rushed to Limassol General Hospital early yesterday morning after falling from the second floor of an apartment block onto the first floor balcony. He fell at around 2am, suffering serious injuries, while attempting to climb down from the second floor after a brawl. The man was kept in hospital for treatment.

Turkey ‘had planned to hand over Varosha’

THE GOVERNMENT yesterday confirmed reports that Turkey had been planning to hand over control of the ghost town of Varosha to the Turkish Cypriot regime last month and that Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash had offered to allow Greek Cypriots to return and live under Turkish Cypriot administration.

Denktash property tribunal a sham, says Markides

TURKISH Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash’s ‘property tribunal’ is a sham and an excuse to get Turkey off the hook at the European Court of Human Rights, former Attorney-general Alecos Markides said yesterday. Commenting on an article by Denktash published yesterday in the Cyprus Mail, Markides said it was obvious the Turkish Cypriot leader was “once again” propagating his position on two states.
