EAC says watchdog has hidden agenda

BELLIGERENT trade unions of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) have hinted that the competition watchdog may have a hidden agenda in the ongoing row over the advent of Liquefied Natural Gas to the island.

They have also not ruled out further industrial action on the heels of last Wednesday’s stoppage.

Girls top boys in final results

THE GIRLS wiped the floor with the boys this year, securing nine out of the 10 top scores in their final exams, giving them access to their establishments of first choice for further education.

The results, published by the Education Ministry on Monday, indicated that of the 6,407 school leavers to sit the exams, girls fared better than their male classmates.

The police are unclear but the £60 fines are still there

POLICE yesterday gave conflicting accounts of road rules after Paphos drivers were fined £60 for not having certain safety equipment in their cars.

Shoppers at a Paphos supermarket shocked last week when local police began randomly checking cars for road safety kits and handing out citations to drivers found to be lacking them.
