Contractor arrested after worker’s death

A CONTRACTOR has been arrested and remanded in police custody after one of his workers was crushed to death at a Nicosia construction site on Wednesday.

Mohidal Hossin, 30 from Syria, was killed when a heavy plate compactor fell on top of him while he was trying to steer it into a trench on Immitou Street in Anthoupolis.

Wanted men

PAPHOS Police are looking for two men in connection with a house break-in and theft, as well as using a fake credit card.

Police believe the two men are not of Cypriot descent. The first is of a strong build, around 1.80 metres tall, aged between 30 and 35, dark with short black hair.

Cypriot youngsters to meet tough opposition in Skopje

THE Cyprus U-16 basketball national team will face Poland in the first round of the TERMOSTEPS U-16 European Championship.

The nine-day Division B, Group D competition is being held in Skopje, FYR of Macedonia, and starts today.

Cyprus’s trip-leader Dimitris Hirou highlighted the main purpose of the expedition.
