Abbot suspended over land deal scandal

FATHER Ephraim, the controversial Cypriot abbot of the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos will refrain from fiscal duties until the investigation into dubious land dealings is resolved, reports said last night.

The Mount Athos monastery is accused of cheating the Greek government out of millions by underhandedly swapping cheap land for prime real estate.

Anorthosis need to put boardroom tension behind them

LEAGUE leaders Anorthosis Famagusta go into tomorrow’s game against bottom club Atromitos aiming to put this week’s boardroom wrangling behind them.

A private disagreement between members of the Anorthosis board over the management of the club’s finances became public this week, forcing club president Andreas Pandeli and coach Temuri Ketsbaia to make a statement about the issue.

From the sublime to the ridiculous

PLAN B keeps coming in and out of the news just like a trailer for a new reality TV show, enticing us to partake in a different agenda. The fact is Plan A for the reunification of Cyprus is the only option, through a peacefully negotiated agreement, so Plan B, whatever it is, and whoever believes in it must presumably oppose this.
