Co-op heist nets 17.5 thousand euros

A MAN wearing a helmet held up a cooperative bank at knife point yesterday, taking off with some €17,500 in cash.

The brazen bandit walked into the bank on Strovolos Avenue in Nicosia, brandishing a kitchen knife.

“Give me all the money,” he told the teller in broken English, according to witnesses.

‘They will only be harming themselves’

URBAN taxi drivers have decided to go ahead with their 24-hour strike today, after talks with the Communications Minister to find solutions to their problems reached a deadlock.

The Pancyprian Taxi Drivers’ Union yesterday rejected a compromise proposal by the Communications Ministry and called on all its members to join in today’s strike.

Frustrated by water cuts in Chlorakas

RESIDENTS of Chlorakas in Paphos are at their wits’ end over their village’s random water cuts, that have sometimes seen them without cuts a supply for up to six days.

Julie Collins has been coming to Cyprus for the last decade but moved here two years ago.
