Time for an action plan for our beaches

THE CYPRUS Tourism Organisation official’s public outburst over people’s selfish behaviour on our beaches may have been excessive, but sometimes this abrasive language is necessary. It acts as a wake-up call both to people who do not care about the mess they leave behind and to the authorities, which are supposed to ensure the cleanliness of the beaches, but do very little.

The case for an independent but accountable central bank

ANDREAS Vgenopoulos, the Executive Vice Chairman of Marfin Laiki Bank, has accused the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Athanasios Orphanides, of acting like a “dictator”.
